O TRABALHO À LUZ DA TEOLOGIA DE SANTO AGOSTINHO

Resumo

O presente artigo trata do tema do trabalho à luz da obra de Santo Agostinho. O bispo de Hipona desfaz a concepção tradicional do trabalho como maldição humana, que teve sua origem na passagem do Gn 3,19: Tu comeras o pão e o suor do teu rosto. Assim, entende as vicissitudes do mundo do trabalho como consequência da ação livre do homem. O trabalho em si é destituído de qualquer conotação valorativa. É a ação do trabalhador e do profissional que deve ser julgada como boa ou má.

Abstract: This article is about the work in the light of Saint Augustine's Theology. The Bishop of Hippo destroys the traditional conception of work as an human malediction, which had its origin at the biblical text of Gn 3,19: By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread. In this way, Augustine understands the ups and downs of work's world as a consequence of free action of the man. The work itself is disproved of any connotation of valor. Only the action of the man and of the worker should be judged as good or bad.
