Resumen

The theologians, Jon Sobrino and Ignacio Ellacuría make a similar assertion that “the crucified people” should occupy a privileged place in the mission of the church. The poor are at the heart of the theological interpretation of these two theologians. They are convinced that the social setting of the poor is the reference point of the church of the poor, which means that the poor is the point of departure for any theological reflection. The church of the poor has its roots in the scripture particular in the life of the historical Jesus and the early Christians communities. Hence the privileged place of the poor in the church is an invitation or a call for the wider communities of the church to be mindful of the responsibilities to answer the call of our fellow human being in our midst. Inspired by the Scriptures, Sobrino and Ellacuría ground their theological reflections in the context of Latin America. Final inquiry will include a creating of a space for Sobrino and Ellacuría to speak to the church in Asia particularly in the context of Timor Leste.
