This article proposes to examine the philosophical dimension underlying Paulo Freire’s pedagogy of the oppressed, highlighting its revolutionary nature as a Latin American praxis. In this sense, it aims to demonstrate how Freirean thought is configured as a form of critical consciousness for the oppressed class in the face of the capitalist alienation mechanisms that permeate labor and culture. In this context, we will investigate the constitution of the pedagogy of the oppressed as a radical set of ideas, whose inspiration, among other sources, claims the presence of a critical dialogue with Marxian literature. That said, our emphasis will primarily focus on analyzing Pedagogy of the oppressed, highlighting its contributions to a deeper understanding of Freirean emancipatory praxis. The considerations outlined in this article are situated in the perspective that the pedagogy of the oppressed constitutes itself as a Latin American philosophy whose aim lies in the interpretation and significant trans-formation of contemporary socio-historical and economic realit.
