This article presents a philosophical approach to Clarice Lispector's book Água viva, aiming to elucidate the notion of being present within it. To this end, it begins with a consideration of current philosophical writings surrounding Água viva and moves through the reflections of Derrida and Eduardo Viveiros de Castro on the self-understanding of human beings in relation to other beings, as well as questioning the very act of philosophy. With this in mind and having located the point in contemporary philosophical discussion where it will take place, the analysis of Lispector's ideas begins, unfolding into a possible ontology constructed in a heterodox manner, with results that have the power to reframe classic philosophical questions.
