How do everyday occupations with technological devices and AI models define the mode of being of contemporary existence? As algorithmic rationality. Based on this hypothesis, and on Heidegger’s thought, our aim is to show what the ontological foundations which simultaneously describe the mode of being of contemporary existence and algorithmic technology are. From the concepts of existence as possibility of being, disclosedness, and being-towards-oneself, we will discuss how the character of neutrality gathers the existential modifications of selfhood and of “They” into an ontological nexus named “publicness,” which is necessary to concretize the shared world. We will correlate the existential modifications of publicness and the character of being of availability (the unconcealment mode of entities in technicity) to indicate how both of them neutralize the subjective and objective modes of being. From the correlation between non-subjectivity and non-objectivity, we can show both the philosophical conformation of algorithmic technology and the fissures which algorithmic technology triggers in contemporary existence.
