Understanding the concept of “life” from John 10:10b contains elements that help address the difficulties or conflicting situations generated by research in the lives of young people. Biblical studies are usually developed using exegetical methodologies, which allow for an understanding of the sacred texts addressed. Theological and pedagogical research on the continent has often focused on teaching and the contents of the faith, but rarely addresses the “life” of researchers. This research seeks to address this gap in knowledge through a hermeneutical exercise and techniques such as focus groups and surveys. It describes the existential situation of young researchers, analyzes the concept of life from John 10:10b, and mentions the practical consequences of this Gospel reading. It is concluded that formative research must include elements that help researchers develop holistically; a technical or instrumental curriculum is not enough. Understanding their problems and challenges and illuminating them with the Gospel, like that of John, enables the realization of the Kingdom of God, especially among young people. In this way, they will live the abundant life proposed by Jesus, and the elements that derive from it, such as awareness of human dignity, care for oneself and others, attentive listening to the Word of God, loving relationships, assertive communication, and the eradication of poverty.
